Each year, farmers suffer significant money losses from nematodes, tiny crop enemies that damages crops. Nematodes are difficult to spot, and there are no good solutions. To solve this issue, Bayer has developed India’s first nematode treatment─ Velum Prime. Velum Prime contains fluopyram, an effective nematicide that protects fields against nematode damage and maximises crop yields.
Velum Prime works as a strong and long-lasting nematicide effective against the major damaging nematode species, especially meloidogyne sp. and radopholus sp. The active ingredient of Velum Prime, fluopyram, belongs to the pyridinyl ethyl benzamide chemical class.
Notably, fluopyram requires a low application rate, and its high intrinsic activity helps reduce the crop protection chemical load without compromising efficacy.
The active ingredient of Vellum Prime, fluopyram, selectively inhibits complex II of the mitochondrial respiratory chain of nematodes. This inhibition targets the essential powerhouse of nematode cells, the mitochondria, leading to a rapid and severe depletion of cellular energy (ATP).
After applying Velum Prime, the nematode becomes brittle and immobile. The first symptoms of treatment occur about 30 minutes after the application.
Some of the benefits include
Offers fast, effective, and long-term control of nematodes.
A revolutionary safety profile for operators and the environment.
Provides efficacy at low application rates.
Offers application flexibility and convenient crop management.
Globally established MRL/IT
Profitable and sustainable farm management.
Moisten the soil, either by waiting for rainfall or via irrigation.
Make sure that the soil isn’t too wet.
Apply Velum Prime at the base of the plant.
Spread Velum Prime to cover the area above the root zone.
Apply water to help Velum Prime reach into the roots to protect them.
Follow label instructions for further details.

Velum Prime is a nematicide developed by Bayer Crop Science. It is designed to protect crops against nematodes, which are microscopic worms that can harm plant roots and reduce the yield of crops.
The active element in Vellum Prime, fluopyram, disrupts nematodes’ energy-producing systems, rendering them immobile and weak, thereby protecting crops from damage.
The technical name of Velum Prime is fluopyram 34.48% w/w SC.
The first symptoms of Velum Prime treatment occur about 30 minutes after the application.
Velum Prime provides long-lasting protection, usually for several weeks after application.
Velum Prime is designed to have minimal impact on the soil and environment. However, this product is toxic to aquatic organisms; hence, it should not be used near aquaculture or pisciculture areas.
The availability of Bayer Velum Prime varies according to your area and local regulations. To inquire about obtaining Velum Prime, contact your local agricultural supply stores, wholesalers, or authorised Bayer dealers. You can also get information on where to buy Bayer products on the company’s official website or by contacting their customer service.
