Farmers have to deal with a number of pests that suck nutrition from crops. These pests also act as transporter of diseases and can prevent crops from producing maximum yields. For effective pest control, Bayer has developed Confidor® insecticide for improved crop protection from sucking pests.
Confidor® contains imidacloprid, a powerful insecticide that effectively controls sucking pests like aphids, thrips, jassids, and hoppers in crops such as various fruits and vegetables, cotton, and paddy. What makes Confidor® a first of its kind solution is that very low doses are required for best and long-term efficacy. It also maintains a high safety standard for the operator and environment.
Confidor® contains the active ingredient imidacloprid. It belongs to the neonicotinoid class of insecticides and is known for its low toxicity to warm-blooded animals, exceptional systemic properties, and long-term effectiveness.
Imidacloprid functions as both a contact and stomach poison. It works by interfering with the transmission of impulses in the nervous system of insects.
The active ingredient in Confidor®—imidacloprid disrupts the normal functioning of the nervous system in insects by exciting specific nerve cells through interaction with a receptor protein.
In contrast to acetylcholine, which is rapidly degraded by the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, imidacloprid is either slow to be inactivated or cannot be inactivated at all. This leads to the dysfunction of the nervous system in treated insects, causing their death.
Some of the benefits include
Has a broad spectrum of activity against sucking insects, beetles, some species of flies, leaf miners, termites, and locusts.
Its excellent root-systemic properties ensure effective and long-lasting pest management.
Low application rates and good plant compatibility make it a preferred choice for farmers.
Gives flexibility for application methods. Application methods include spray, stem paint, basal stem spray/drench, injection, or soil treatment using irrigation or granules.
The part of the active ingredient taken up by the plant is further distributed in an acropetal direction.
It is compatible with conventional insecticides.
Confidor® can be applied to plants as a spray or stem paint or as a basal stem spray/drench. It can also be injected into plants or applied as a soil treatment use. As a soil application, it can be applied by irrigation, as granules.

Insects such as aphid, jassid, thrips, whitefly, brown plant hopper, white-backed plant, hopper, green leaf hopper, termite, hopper, leaf miner, psylla, and flea beetle can be prevented by using Bayer Confidor®.
Bayer Confidor® possesses excellent residual activity and protects from a broad-spectrum of pests. Its excellent root-systemic properties ensure effective and long-lasting pest management.
Confidor® Super is an improved formulation of Confidor® that offers better absorption and longer persistence. This makes it highly effective against various sucking insect pests.
Confidor® works differently for different crops, influenced by the economic threshold level (ETL) specific to each crop. These ETLs assess whether the benefits of using Confidor® outweigh the costs. Understanding the ETL for each crop helps farmers to optimise the timing of Confidor® treatment to maximise pest control effectiveness.
The recommended dosage of Bayer Confidor® varies depending on the crop to be protected. Use the above table of how to use Confidor® for specific requirements.
Use Confidor® according to the recommended application guidelines. Confidor® is commonly applied with a knapsack sprayer, but other acceptable technologies on the market should also be considered for application.
