Weeds in transplanted rice and sugarcane crops are difficult to control because they appear at different times and interfere with the normal growth of your plants. Farmers need good herbicides to control these difficult-to-kill weeds. Bayer’s Sunrice is one of the best available options for complete weed control.
Sunrice herbicide contains ethoxysulfuron, which is extremely efficient at controlling sedges, grassy weeds, and broadleaf weeds in rice, sugarcane, and other crops. Sunrice provides high crop safety, performs well at low dosages, and is flexible to use.
Sunrice herbicide contains the active ingredient ethoxysulfuron, which belongs to the sulfonyl urea group of herbicides. It is a post-emergence broad-spectrum herbicide for the control of different kinds of weeds in transplanted rice and sugarcane.
Sunrice herbicide can be used as an early post-emergence herbicide, and when combined with the grass herbicide Ricestar as a tank mix, it can offer total weed control in rice.
Ethoxysulfuron in Sunrice is mainly taken up by the leaves and then moves within the plant. It inhibits acetolactate, a crucial process for the plant’s growth. After inhibition of plant growth, chlorotic patches develop and spread, first at the top, then at the bottom.
The action of the product is visible within 3 to 4 weeks after application, leading to the death of the whole weed plant.
Some of the benefits include
It is a selective herbicide that acts only on weeds and does not harm crops.
Acts as a post-emergence herbicide, giving flexibility of application.
Gives excellent weed control over difficult-to-control weeds like Monochoria and Scirpus.
Effectively controls annual sedges like Cyperus rotundus.
Acts at a very low dose, being sulfonyl urea.
Rice: Use as an early post–emergence herbicide at a rate of 83.3 to 100g/ha at 5-10 days after transplanting (DAT) of rice crop.
Sugarcane: Apply as a post-emergence herbicide at 3-4 leaf stage of weeds.
Ensure thorough land preparation. Drain out excess water and apply it uniformly to the soil surface, which should preferably be moist. Flood the field after 24 hours.

The frequency of Sunrice application depends on the spread and growth of weeds in the field and the specific crop. It is recommended for post-emergence applications.
As such, there are no major safety measures to be taken while using Sunrice. However, general safety and precautions must be followed.
While Bayer Sunrice herbicide may not have a specific impact on soil or water bodies, it is crucial to emphasise that the use of any herbicide requires strict adherence to safety precautions to protect both applicators and the environment.
