It is absorbed through the leaves, translocate to the roots, and eliminates weeds from the roots. Roundup degrades quickly in soil and does not leach into water bodies
Roundup, a non-selective systemic herbicide, contains glyphosate as its active ingredient. When applied, it targets weed plants by blocking the action of an enzyme known as 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS).
This enzyme is important for the synthesis of amino acids required for weed plant protein synthesis. Roundup interferes with the growth of weed plants by disrupting this mechanism, which ultimately results in their death.
